Is there another Old Git ST holder on here?
|
In July I will reach 65 (hopefully).
On renewing my ST will I get the half price ticket even though when I renew I won't be 65 but when the 1st match of the season is played I will be?
Anybody else been through this hoop?

You'll get the OAP rate 1964. I got a ST for my Dad in the summer and he turned 65 in September. The club made me pay the full amount pre-season and then in September, once he'd turned 65, they reimbursed me to account for the fact he only should be charged OAP rate for the remaining games of the season. As you turn 65 pre-season they should just charge you the OAP rate.

My old man is 72 and for the last 6 seasons had a half price season ticket. He's in his 57th season as a season ticket holder. He's not impressed by being told he has to pay an early deposit for next year!
I'll ask him if it was done automatically. Mind you his bday is in the summer between seasons...

I believe you will. My brother was 65 in July last year and he got the cheaper, in fact half price, season ticket automatically .Hasn't made him any less grumpy although he does have a decent stash of werthers Originals at every game.

Ask the two Daves. They are both senior citizens and will know how to get all the perks.

OK - I emailed the ticket office and this is their reply. Not sure it fully answers my question but it looks promising:
Hi ......
The system should see this and allow the discount to be processed automatically , if it doesn’t please contact us
However the club may ask for proof of age before this is complete
Kind regards
Sean

When my Dad did it a few years back they stated an eligibility birthdate on the application form though not necessarily the same as the first home game of the season, for example it might be 01/09/1950 and if you are born before that you get an OAP season ticket otherwise it is for whack for that year.

Q: Will the club do what is right for a fan or will they try and bleed an extra few quid from you.
A: Please see other thread

ST holder who sits behind me is 98. Lovely old boy too. Eyes are so bad he hasn't been able to see the pitch for 2 years but comes along anyway with his son. Should wheel him out on the pitch at the Olympic Stadium if he reaches 100.

Wouldn't have thought so, you're not 65 when you renew?

If I live to be 65 I'll have had a right touch.
